[Mesolimulus walchi][Antrimpos speciosus]

Mesolimulus walchi (Demarest, 1822) & Antrimpos speciosus (Munster, 1839): both Late Jurassic (152-158 my), Solenhofen Limestone, near Solenhofen, Bavaria, Germany [horseshoe crab length = 210 mm] (LACMIP locality 5435), shrimp length = 175 mm (LACMIP locality 5434).

Lagoons of the Solenhofen Sea lacked a bottom-dwelling fauna. Storms of sufficient strength were probably responsible for marine invertebrates such as (a): horseshoe crabs, and (b): shrimp, being deposited in these sterile lagoons.
